Designing your Store to succeed

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

If you take the time to design the layout of your store it can ensure that you get the maximum return on sales and can be the secret to your success.  This may mean arranging the store so that customers are guided through past point of sale and displays to the cash till.  You may choose to display promotional displays and discounts near the door so that passersby are tempted in and by organising your products in a logical way you can ensure people can find what they are looking for quickly rather than losing interest and leaving.

Another element of the shop design is the choice of point of sale.  Here you will be selecting promotional material that will be displayed near to the cash till to encourage impulse purchases.  At this point people already have their money to hand over and may see something they want at the last minute.

This approach can work well as people can quickly become bored whilst queuing up to pay.  By using point of sale displays to present products attractively to customers you can increase your revenue significantly.  It is also an ideal place to use acrylic displays of information and discount offers as customers will have time to read it.  Make sure the items that you place at the point of sale are smaller items or relatively cheap as people tend to opt for things that they can spend their small change on.

At Tradewind Displays we can help you to choose the best point of sale for your store.

Choosing the best A-Boards for you

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

A-boards are well used within the retail sector and the world of advertising.  These distinctive displays have earned their name due to the A shape that the frame of the board makes.  The four legs of an A board frame join together to a point which looks like a triangular A shape.  For extra support some A boards have a bar that joins the legs.

Their popularity comes from their simplicity and versatility.  Due to the design they can be transported easily and folded away flat to be stored.  You can buy A-boards in a variety of materials most of which are lightweight and easy to carry.  Materials available are wood, metals, plastics – all have differing costs and levels of durability so you need to think carefully about how you will use your A boards before you choose one.

Wooden A-boards are not great for outdoor use due to the rainy climate however they are a popular choice with garden centres and cafés where wood complements the décor and theme of the outlet.  If you want to use a wooden A board outside they are simple to fold down and whisk inside when needed.

Metal A-boards are premium point of sale models and are well suited to the outdoors due to their durability.  You can use them to display a poster which can be covered by a Perspex sheet to protect it.  You can display all manner of information effectively and attractively with A-boards.

Here at Tradewind Displays we have a great selection of A-boards to choose from.

Don’t overlook A Boards

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Understanding how to market your business may come as second nature to you but many companies struggle to choose the right point of sale equipment.  One type of point of sale that can be overlooked is A boards.  They offer a great means to advertise and promote the store to passing trade and there is a wide selection of A boards available to meet every business need.

If you are new to A boards, these are effective pavement signs that can be seen on the local high street promoting stores and letting customers know what is available in the nearby shop.  You’ll find a wide range to choose from depending on your business requirements.  The basic model is an A board with wire mesh across the front which allows you to attach a poster detailing your promotions and in store buys.

Another classic pavement sign, or A board style is the traditional blackboard format.  These are great for updating daily with new offers and information about products.  You can customise them to your own style and image and highlight promotions that may otherwise go unnoticed by passersby.  You can use both sides of the A board to catch both directions of traffic.

To really catch the attention of potential customers A boards that revolve and spin can be very eye catching.  If pavement space is an issue there are A boards that can be mounted to the front of the store also.

At Tradewind Displays we have a wide range of point of sale and A boards to choose from.

How to organise Promotional Displays

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

When creating your own in-store promotional displays, you need to do some research to find the best quality products that fit with your store.  It’s no good opting for the cheap and cheerful if they fall apart after a few weeks.  Acrylic display stands are light and robust and will stand the test of months of footfall from passing customers.  By choosing high quality point of sale displays you convey a message of quality service and excellent products.

You can make the most of the space you have by planning the store layout and making provision for storage.  You need to keep things flexible so that you can adapt acrylic displays according to the seasons and variations on inventory.

If you have smaller products that can be displayed easily on the wall then slatwall can be used as it offers versatility.  You can make the most of vertical space available and make stunning displays of accessories and smaller items.  Shoppers can see products easily and don’t have to rummage to find what they need.  This will also free up floor space to create effective promotional displays for some bigger products.

A good promotional display can be placed at point of sale to introduce new products or to up sell customers to a higher quality and more expensive product.  They are also great for stimulating impulse purchases which can have a significant impact on your sales.

Here at Tradewind Displays we have a great range of acrylic displays for in store promotions and events.

Selecting your own Point of Sale

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

If you have a retail outlet you will probably have dealings with shop fitters who will help to design the interior of your store and may even advise you on signage and merchandising.  However, in these tough economic times it may be too expensive to use someone else to fit your store out with point of sale, and you may want to find materials yourself.  There are some steps you can take to make this an effective and enjoyable process ensuring you get the right point of sale for you.

1.    Think about your store image.
Think of the image you are trying to convey to shoppers and the type of products you sell.  If you sell clothes, jewellery or shoes for example you will probably have a typical customer profile that you are hoping to attract.  Take time to understand what that type of person is looking for in a store and what will make them want to return again and again.  The same will apply to other forms of retail so get your customer clear in your mind.

2.    Think about the type of point of sale you want.
Look at the products that you sell.  What types of point of sale and merchandising do you need to display them appropriately?  If you are a newsagent then key items are magazine display racks and newspaper display stands, for example.

3.    Research different point of sale products.
Take time to look at what is available; this will be inspiration in itself.  Talk to your point of sale supplier and get their advice on what works.

At Tradewind Displays we offer a range of point of sale materials to optimise your marketing.

Boutique Point of Sale

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

A boutique shop window is the showcase for the rest of the store and must be planned and executed expertly to ensure that the correct brand message is conveyed and that it appeals to those all important customers.  However, before you start ordering more mannequins, there is more to creating shop front displays than clothes dummies.

Point of sale materials such as window clings and display signs play a huge role in creating brand image and conveying promotional messages.  This is a way of attracting people who are looking for specific brands and styles that may be hard to find in traditional retail outlets.  You can also use signage as a point of sale technique to advertise your biggest competitive advantage over the big retail stores – your personal service.  This may be personal styling, free alterations or custom fitting.  No matter what the service, your front window is the ideal place to advertise it.  You can then focus on the mannequin display to communicate the attitude, style and atmosphere of the boutique.

Once in store you need to continue with point of sale placement.  Use signage and display stands in store to show off your wares and to guide customers throughout the boutique.  Clever displays can encourage impulse purchases and encourage customers that they simply can’t leave without buying the complete outfit with all its accessories.

If within the first few seconds of entering the boutique a customer cannot envisage wearing and owning your products they are unlikely to come back so it is imperative you get your point of sale displays right.

At Tradewind Displays we can help with all your point of sale needs.

Making space for Acrylic Displays

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Getting point of sale right for a small boutique can be a challenge particularly if you are setting up for the first time.  You will want to create a new and fresh image whilst maintaining your identity and unique charm.  The problems can surface as you start to expand on your inventory and the need to expand on point of sales also increases.

Holding a wider selection of products can increase your sales.  It can widen the net and attract customers that until now you had not appealed to.  It can also be a benefit to existing customers who may find the new stock interesting and want to come back for more.  The need to keep your products fresh but also remain profitable is the key to success.  You need the inventory to keep customers hooked, appeal to new customers and satisfy seasonal peaks and promotions.  However what happens if you have little space?  Where will you put your point of sale displays?

Invest in acrylic displays that stand taller or can be positioned on shelving above clothes racks.  Take advantage of the space you have on the walls and position point of sale and acrylic displays so you still have a clear view of your store.  This will avoid overcrowding and keep a clear view so you can still be vigilant for shoplifters.

At Tradewind Displays we have a range of point of sale and acrylic displays that can be bought as standard or customised to meet your business needs.

Maximise impulse purchasing

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

The best way to explain how effective well chosen point of sale can be is to picture the check out at a well known supermarket.  Take time to observe people in the queue and how people behave as they shuffle through the check out lined with chocolates, drinks and sweets.

You’ll soon see that most people will have added a couple of items to their shopping trolley by the time they come to pay.  All those tasty treats can prove too much temptation for most.  The power of impulse purchasing can be capitalised upon by using effective point of sale and choosing the items displayed there carefully.  If items are presented to them in an easily accessible and attractive way, your customers will not be able to resist.

At Tradewind Displays we know that there are differing products and point of sale needs, so we pride ourselves on offering a wide variety of POS products.  No matter what the product; we have point of sale to fit.

There are acrylic stands to provide durable point of sale displays at high traffic areas, a variety of magazine and newspaper stands to choose from and many product specific displays on offer.  The choice of point of sale can make the difference between extra sales and none at all, so speak to us to make sure you pick the point of sale tailored to you.

The top tip is to choose displays that can be easily accessible and position them in a highly visible place.

Point of sale displays are convenient

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Point of sales displays are often used as a channel for supporting other advertising methods.  In a highly competitive market, point of sale displays can help to solve your short term hurdles.  Promoting your products at point of sale areas is not as durable as the results you may get from advertising, and this is where display is so important.

How point of sale displays differ from general advertising is that they provide a subtle approach to persuading shoppers to buy.  They are able to act as a direct stimulus that gets consumers buying your products, immediately.

Apart from that, advertising is generally long term as it takes time to build branding awareness and customer loyally.  Point of sale displays are an immediate form of advertising that is able to provide vast opportunities for increasing sales.  Advertising adds long term value to a product while point of sale displays aid enticing immediate sales. They also have the ability to create brand awareness and customer loyalty on a long term basis.

A point of sale display has many purposes

Apart from providing a boost to sales, point of sale displays meet many other marketing requirements such as being able to introduce or educate consumers about new products.  They are able to help to unload accumulated stock too or to help advertise special offers and promotions.

A well placed and creative point of sale display is also able to persuade shoppers to increase the size of their purchases.  We at Tradewind Displays can provide all your needs when it comes to point of sale displays and we are able to offer you creative and affordable solutions in which to display your products.
